DEFINITION OF TERMS
BIODEGRADABLE
Materials that are biodegradable can be completely decomposed by microorganisms into CO2, water, minerals and biomass. The duration of the process depends heavily on the conditions of the environment.
CIRCULAR
ECONOMY
The circular economy is an economic model that aims to keep resources in a closed cycle by minimizing waste and reusing or recycling products. The aim is to reduce the consumption of resources and protect the environment.
COMPOSTABLE
The process of composting describes the biological decomposition of organic substances by microorganisms. This process takes place aerobically, i.e. under the influence of oxygen, and takes place under specific conditions.
BIO-BASED
Materials are bio-based if they are made entirely or partially from renewable raw materials such as starch, sugar cane or cellulose.
